Commissioner addresses conference on Data Protection in Moldova

Earlier this week our Commissioner, Ian Deguara, took part in a conference on "New Legal Provisions in Personal Data Protection in Moldova", held on Data Protection Day in Moldova’s capital Chisinau. The conference was organised by e-Governance Academy in partnership with the National Center for Personal Data Protection of the Republic of Moldova.

During his intervention, Deguara explained the complementary roles of data protection and #cybersecurity, stressing the broader impact of failures on both reputation and fundamental rights.

The conference featured a number of speakers and covered a number of topics such as aligning Moldova's data protection regulations with EU standards; challenges posed by emerging technologies like AI; rights, responsibilities, and breach management in data processing as well as strengthening privacy protection through cybersecurity.
