IDPC publishes Employment Sector FAQs

The Information and Data Protection Commissioner (IDPC) of Malta published a useful set of FAQs relating to the employment sector. These FAQs seek to address common questions which employers may have about their data protection obligations under the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679, particularly in relation to how to handle the personal data of their employees in a manner that complies with the requirements of the Regulation.

The FAQs cover questions relating to biometric data processing, police conduct certificates, pre-employment medical checks, employee monitoring, management of employee email accounts, and data retention.
