Executive Officer - Technical Affairs

A challenging opportunity to develop a career in the intriguing field of data protection has arisen within the Office of the Information and Data Protection Commissioner.  This position will give the ideal candidate the unique chance to gain first-hand unique experience in the implementation and enforcement of the General Data Protection Regulation, the new legal framework that started to apply across the European Union on 25th May 2018.

Reporting directly to the Director – Technical Affairs, the selected candidate will be responsible to, inter alia, investigate data protection complaints, assist the Office in conducting on-the-spot inspections on processes, systems and applications, draft technical reports, conduct the necessary legal research, get familiar with risk assessment methodologies and develop effective controls to ensure that controllers comply with the data protection legislation. 

The ideal candidate must be in possession of a recognised degree at MQF Level 6 or higher in Law, Business Administration, Commerce, ICT or European studies. Applicants should have a minimum of one-year post qualification experience. Knowledge of EU legislation in this specific area will be considered an asset. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
